    Nice review.
“dozed off briefly at a few points” 🙂 Was it Bergman who called Godard boring? And I thought Bergman’s films were boring. 🙂
I am always amazed what a huge difference my mood and tiredness level makes when watching a movie. Then whatever evaluation/impression I give it, sticks for a while even if I re-watch it, unless a decade passes, and then you see it with somewhat new eyes..
Anyway, it amuses me that you watch Godard, and then Bruce Lee and Clint Eastwood, on the polar opposite side. 🙂

    • Yes, you are right on: Bergman apparently got nothing out of Godard’s films. However, Godard quite admired Bergman. There are a couple Bergman films I love, but several have done nothing for me. Yes, I’m trying to hit the high and low in terms of film…a real variety. Granted, my specialties create a strange collection of focus 🙂 –Paul

  2. Reminds me of the end of Il Decameron where some art pupil (memory fails me) is looking at religious depictions and says something like: Why make art when it’s better to dream about it?

I know what he felt, though I probably subscribe more to Godard’s ethos. (Don’t really know how Pasolini felt, ultimately.)

Wonderful take on journalism and depiction through images, by the way. Merely typing, deadlines, captions. A bleak landscape.
